How to Make a DIY Reusable Drinking Straw Pouch
What you need
- Water-resistant washable fabric (22” x 4” roughly)
- VELCRO® Brand Sticky Back for Fabric Ovals
- Reusable straw and brush
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Iron
Start by choosing your fabric! You’ll want something that’s water-resistant and washable.
Using your straw to measure, cut your fabric 4 inches wide and double the straw’s length, leaving an additional 2 inches to the length.
Width: 4 inches
Length = 2x the length of the straw + 2 inches
To make the pouch, fold the top and bottom edges in ¼ inch. Then iron the folds.
Next, fold in the long edges so they overlap slightly in the middle and iron them down.
Using your straw to measure, fold your fabric in half, leaving 2 inches at the top for a flap. Clip or pin in place.
Now comes the fun part! It’s time to start sewing, topstitch around the open pouch. This should include the flap.
Finally, use one VELCRO® Brand Sticky Back For Fabric Ovals on the top of the pouch to fasten close.
And that’s it! Place your drinking straw and brush inside, and you’re ready to go!
