Our decorating zone today: the windows. VELCRO® Brand has such perfect products to use when decorating for Halloween outside and today we are looking at a fun DIY project for making the outside of your home look like it is all boarded up to keep those creepy zombies (or pesky neighbors) at bay!
Materials:
VELCRO® Brand Industrial Strength Low Profile Fasteners
3 Planks of Balsa Wood (or Foam Core)
X-ACTO Knife
Brown Acrylic Paint
Foam Brush
Black Permanent Marker
How-To:
Take your X-ACTO knife and cut off the ends of the balsa wood. You don’t want it to look perfect, the more rugged looking, the better!
Now if you want, take your black permanent marker and just draw a few wood grain lines on the planks. These don’t need to be perfect either, remember these are old beaten up boards! After that, take your foam brush and your brown paint and mix it with a little water so that it almost becomes more of a stain than a paint.
Cover one side of each of your planks with the paint.
Once your boards are all dry it is time for the VELCRO® Brand Industrial Strength Low Profile fasteners and the fun part! Putting them up!
To display your boards, simply take your VELCRO® Brand Industrial Strength Low Profile fasteners and attach one of the coins on each side of the back of the boards and then to the corresponding position on the window.
Place your boards up on your windows and you are ready to keep out all those nasty day walkers!
