Moving into a new place doesn’t have to be a pain. Whether you’re going from home to your new room on campus, or from one apartment to another this fall, we’re here to hook you up.
Here are six tips to keep in mind when moving all your treasures. Stay tuned, we’ve got a giveaway for you after the jump. (How does a $100 gift card to Walmart and all the VELCRO® Brand products you need sound?)
Before you start in on the heavy lifting, don’t forget to make moving fun! Round up some of your most dependable friends and turn on some music. If you’re of age, crack open some cold ones and bust out those koozies. We even found this playlist for you.
Label like mad. Our resident organization maven chimed in to remind us how important it is to label your boxes. While she had our ear, she also suggested moving one room at a time i.e. all those kitchen boxes should be unloaded together.
Donate. Moving is a great opportunity to reevaluate what you need. If you haven’t worn that sweater in a couple years, maybe it could go to a better home? (At the very least, revamp it with this Brit + Co. fast-fashion DIY) Make a bag of things to donate and drop it off on your way to the new place.
Make a checklist. Check it twice.
Before you walk out of your old apartment, make sure you’ve run through your checklist. Don’t forget things that are plugged into the wall, hanging on the wall, or in the fridge. Did you check under the bed? Where you keep your valuables?
Pack an overnight. While you’re in transition, keep your essentials nearby and portable. Pack an outfit or two, toiletries, and a phone charger in a carry-on, so amidst all the chaos you can still look put together.
Keep tape, VELCRO® Brand ONE-WRAP® Ties, and scissors on hand. All those unsung organizational products will come in handy when a box breaks or chords need to be wrangled.
Now, for the good stuff. To help make it all a breeze, we put together our #MovingDay contest. Enter to win a $100 Walmart gift card and a prize pack of our handy-dandy products. Good luck and happy moving!
