Cheers are in order! One of our original franchises, Velcro Canada Inc., celebrates its 50th anniversary this week. Since opening its doors in 1964, the Brampton, ON.-based team has grown our brand internationally and built a stellar team.
At their 120,000 square foot facility, the Velcro Canada team serves our automotive, industrial, and consumer-business customers. They also manufacture the brand’s signature hook and loop fastener and provide design capabilities and engineering expertise for businesses across the country and around the globe.
Like our HQ in Boston, Velcro Canada Inc. shares an active commitment to increasing sustainable operations. It has significantly reduced its waste and carbon footprint and is collectively working toward the industry-recognized “Zero Waste to Landfill” designation – yet another example of how our brand fundamentals come to bear around the world.
Peter Buchanan, Velcro Canada’s Plant Manager, reflected on the company’s history: “We were established shortly after the Velcro Brand was born, and are squarely focused on championing the brand’s rich heritage of quality and innovation. We’re incredibly proud of the 50 year milestone that we achieved through strong employee and partner relationships and look forward to another successful 50 years serving the Canadian and global market.”
Originally established in Trois-Rivières, QC. for its proximity to the textile trade, the plant was moved to Brampton in 1964, where it underwent three vast expansions in 1974, 1981 and 1999. The Brampton site employs over 100 individuals including plant, maintenance and assembly personnel as well as administrative, design engineering, customer service, sales and marketing staff. We are grateful to all of them for pursuing innovative and collaborative ways to push our company forward.
