Make snacking more sustainable with a DIY reusable snack bag!
In this easy sewing tutorial, we’ll show you how to make a reusable snack and sandwich bag with our new VELCRO® Brand Sleek & Thin™ Sew On Tape.

How to Make a DIY Snack Bag
What you need
- VELCRO® Brand Sleek & Thin™ Sew On Tape
- One 8″ x 14″ piece of decorative material
- One 8″ x 14″ piece of waterproof material
- Sewing machine (although this sewing project can also be done by hand)
- Thread
What to do
Start by choosing your fabrics! You’ll need one decorative fabric for the outside of your reusable snack bag and one waterproof fabric for the inside of your snack bag.
Cut an 8″ x 14″ piece of each fabric. To make a larger or small snack pouch, simply adapt the dimensions to suit your requirements.
Now to start sewing! Clip both pieces of fabric together and sew them together with a 1/2″ inseam. Make sure you leave a small gap to make sure you can turn the fabric inside out later.
When you’ve sewn all the way around, turn your DIY snack pack inside out so that you have the decorative material on one side and the waterproof material on the other.
Now take a pack of VELCRO® Brand Sleek & Thin™ Sew On Tape and cut two strips.
You’ll need one strip for each side of the bag and they’ll need to be sewn on at opposite ends. Once the VELCRO® Brand tape is clipped in place, sew it on with a sewing machine.
By now you should see your reusable snack bag taking shape! Before the next stage of sewing, stick the two pieces of VELCRO® Brand tape together and clip the bag together around the edges.
Then go back to your sewing machine and top stitch around the entire open bag.
And that’s it! Your DIY reusable snack and sandwich bag is finished! Fill it with snacks and take it with you while you’re on the go. Then wash it and re-use it time after time!
