The VELCRO® Brand PRESS-LOK® hook-to-hook flangeless closure is lightweight and can be easily and safely sealed over recyclable polyethylene films. This includes the audible and tactile closure experience consumers have come to trust with VELCRO® Brand PRESS-LOK® Closures.
By utilizing this flangeless option customers can further tailor their desired closure experience by utilizing a seal profile that is smaller than the closure width. Any unsealed rows positioned inside the packaging experience increased spill resistance and unsealed hooks on the consumer end provide a more secure closure
VELCRO® Brand PRESS-LOK® Closure Profile
Making thin 2.5 to 3.5 mm width seal profiles (red) and using guides (blue) to position the closure centered will leave about 3 rows of hooks with unsealed back on both edges of the closure.
The lower edge will provide a much higher spill resistance while the top edge will provide a secure closure.
Drop Test
See below how the product puts pressure over a closure when a package is dropped based on a flanged closure and a flangeless closure with its lower edge unsealed.
For heavy pouch contents, a user may also choose to move the closure down to leave 4 or 5 rows of hooks unsealed. This may improve the burst & spill resistance several times as opposed to the full sealed closure.
